A day in the life of hurricane Frances

We were "fortunate" enough to be at our home in Tuscan Ridge when Frances passed through in 2004. The links below are short movies taken at half hour intervals pretty much all through Sunday.

Quality isn't great as, well they are AVIs taken with my digital still camera. You'll need Windows Media Player, Real Player or something similar to view them. You can either just click on them, or right click and select "save target as" then view them.

The files vary between 2Mb and 4Mb each and start at around 9:00 am Sunday morning.

So that's it.

Having sat at home, glued to the web while Charley raged passed wondering if I would still have a home we found it easier to be there during Frances and see first hand what it's actually like. I can't say that on this occasion it was a particularly scary or life threatening experience, well not until the tornados started in Polk County on Monday morning. On a couple of occasions there were warnings on TV that tornados had touched down not far from us and were heading in our direction at 50mph. Fortunately they died out before reaching us.

Damage to our community, Tuscan Ridge was very light being pretty much restricted  to a few feet of soffit blown off several houses. Several pieces of which I found in my garden during the storm. Some of that was apparently due to Charley a couple of weeks previously.

Fancy going to the Costa del Sol, Spain?  La Casita Bonita is our utterly gorgeous 3 bed/3 bath Finca located in the mountains above the picturesque whitewashed village of Sayalonga. Set in 5000sqm of private gardens with your own pool and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and Mediterranean. Only 15 minutes to the largest beach on the Costa del Sol at Torre del Mar, 25 min to Nerja, or 45 min to Malaga. Full details on the website
